Knights Get Back On Track In 2-0 Victory Over Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W.V. The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team notched an important road victory Saturday, defeating the Ohio Valley University Fighting Scots, 2-0.

After falling behind early in Tuesday's loss, Southern Virginia jumped out to a first half lead against Ohio Valley when junior Maddie Wiscombe scored her second goal of the season at the 18-minute mark on a beautiful cross from freshman Jackie Barlow.

The Knights added to their advantage four minutes later when freshman Bryndel Kindred drove a shot from 20 yards out that landed just in front of the Fighting Scots' goalie and took a favorable SVU bounce into the host's net.

Neither team would score again in the contest, as Southern Virginia's keeper, Briar Sands, recorded five saves in her second shutout of the season.

The Knights face a quick turnaround as they host Shepherd University on Monday, Sept. 27 at The Fields. The game has a 3:00 p.m. start time.
