Knights Fall in Tiebreaker to Allen, Downed by York in Tri-Match

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University wrestling team was squeezed for a tiebreaking point in a tight match against Allen University, falling 25-24. After the heartbreaker, York College shutout the Knights during Saturday's tri-match hosted by Southern Virginia.

In their bout against Allen, the Knights started off strong with Aaron Freidhoff defeating his opponent, Davon Powell, in a 5-3 decision to put the Knights up 3-0. After forfeiting two weight classes, the Knights bounced back with a pin by Christopher Fletcher (5:35).

Zachary Davidson and Matthew Rohrdanz were both defeated by decisions, 8-2 and 6-3 respectively. The Knights then gave up six more points from a pin at 174.  

Allen then forfeited in the 184-pound weight class and the Knights picked up a pin from Quigley Whitaker (2:10) and another victory by decision thanks to Nico Ramirez (8-7). 

The Knights were unable to secure a win against York College and were defeated 52-0.

On Friday, January 26, the Knights will travel to Lexington, Va. to face off against Washington and Lee University at 6:00 p.m.
