"Joshua [Hall] is deserving of the accolade wrestling in a higher weight class and winning four straight matches," said first-year Head Coach Logan Davis. "He has been the most consistent wrestler for us this season."
Hall dropped his first two matches of the week—losing to NCAA Division II Ohio Valley University wrestler Nick Varazushivili (3-0) on Feb. 5 and NAIA wrestler John Walters from West Virginia Tech (9-2) on Feb. 8—while wrestling at a higher weight class of 149-lbs.
The rest of the week, however, Hall bounced back and finished an undefeated 4-0 at the Bridgewater College Quad-Match on Feb. 9, competing in the 141-lb. weight division.
He started the day taking a 9-3 decision over NCAA DIII Bridgewater's Travis Herald and earning another win in a forfeit by William and Mary University. Hall followed those matches by pinning Jonathan Mathews from James Madison University and finishing the competition with a tight-knit 7-5 victory over fellow-Duke Steven Cotnoir.
"Joshua had a great day on Saturday," said Davis. "I was very impressed with the way he kept his composure and fought tough, holding on for four straight wins."
