LEXINGTON, Va.—Competing in its first dual match of the year at Washington and Lee University on Wednesday evening, the Southern Virginia University wrestling team fell to the NCAA Division III Generals 37-12.

Sophomore Sean Porter (Kaysville, Utah) was the only member of the Southern Virginia wrestling team to earn a win at Washington and Lee on Wednesday defeating H.T. Kotchinian 3-2 in the 149-lb. bout. Porter, however, was wrestling unattached at W&L meaning that his match was scored as a Southern Virginia forfeit resulting in six points for the Generals.

The Knights' only points on the evening came via Washington and Lee forfeits at the 125-lb. and 285-lb. slots giving Southern Virginia's Anthony Caruso (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Josh Wallace (Yuba City, Calif.) six points apiece.

Wrestling is off until next semester when the Knights compete again at Washington and Lee on Jan. 14, 2012 in the W&L Invitational.
