Chelsea Whetstone enters her first season as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the women’s lacrosse team.
As a student-athlete at Southern Virginia University, Whetstone played for the women’s basketball, volleyball and track and field teams as well as the university’s women’s club lacrosse program in 2005. In addition to serving as co-captain her senior year for the women’s basketball team, she also participated on the 2004 women’s volleyball and 2006 track and field and women’s basketball USCAA National Championship squads. Whetstone was also honored as the individual discus USCAA National Champion in 2006.
Whetstone’s coaching career began at Southern Virginia as assistant women’s volleyball coach in 2011. Following that she was named head coach of the women’s lacrosse club team in the spring of 2012. From 2010-11, Whetstone worked as an admissions counselor.
Whetstone lives in Buena Vista, Va., with her husband Joseph and their three children.
