YORK, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team was eliminated from the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon by No. 8 York College (Pa.) with the final score 20-3.
In the first half, the Knights (9-9, 0-6) were outscored 15-1 with the lone goal of the half coming from freshman Jordan Gundersen at the 23rd-minute mark.
The Knights added a pair of goals in the second half coming from Hannah King from Megan Barfuss and then Lauren Thatcher found Chloe Mitchell for the assist. The Spartans (13-5, 5-1) added five goals to their total to earn the 20-3 win.
Holly Cunha led the Knights defense with a team-high four ground balls while Madilyn Pedroza recorded seven saves at goal.
Regan Cook and Madison Marciniak led the Spartans with three goals each.
The Knights season ends after the team produced its best season in program history and posted their first .500 season.
