Knights Fall at Home to Mary Washington

BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team dropped a home Capital Athletic Conference matchup to the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday afternoon 19-3.

The Knights (8-5, 0-3 CAC) scored the first goal of the game on a shot from Chloe Mitchell that was assisted by Natalie Rice. The Eagles (11-2, 2-1 CAC) then tied it up at one, before Natalie Rice was able to find the back of the net, giving the Knights a 2-1 lead.

Mary Washington then went on a 16-0 scoring run before Jordan Gunderson was able to connect off of a pass by Hannah King.

Two more Mary Washington goals later, the game ended with the Eagles on top 19-3.

Hannah King had a game-high five draw-clears for Southern Virginia while Holly Cunha picked up a game-high four ground balls to lead the way for the Knights.

Southern Virginia will return to play on the 12th of April as they will travel to York College of Pennsylvania for a CAC matchup scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
