Women's Lacrosse Dominate in Win Over Greensboro College

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team won Tuesday afternoon, defeating Greensboro College 19-7.

The Knights (2-1) dominated early in the first half scoring the first three goals of the game. After allowing a Pride (0-1) goal with the score 3-1, the Knights scored 11 more goals and held Greensboro to just three goals to take a 14-4 lead at the half.

Southern Virginia extended its lead by outscoring the Pride 5-3 in the second half and sealing the game with a double-digit victory 19-7.

The Knights had eight players record a goal with Natalie Rice leading the way with five goals and an assist. Catriona Knowles and Chloe Mitchell each scored three goals while Hannah King, Lauren Thatcher, and Megan Barfuss each recording two goals. Kelsey Johnson and Jordan Gundersen rounded out the Knights with a goal apiece, Gundersen also led the Knights with two assists.

Mary-Kate Johnson recorded her second win of the season at goal.

The Pride was limited by the Southern Virginia defense to just 10 total shots for the game. The Knights had the upper hand in ground balls, clears, and draw controls.

The Knights continue their homestand as they will face Montreat College Thursday, Feb. 28 at 4:00 p.m.
