Women's Lacrosse Notches First Win of the Season Over Ferrum

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team found their first win of the season on Tuesday, taking control of its game against Ferrum College 11-1.

The Knights (1-3) dominated the first half of the game. Lauren Thatcher started the Knights off with a free position shot to put the Knights up 1-0. Afterwards, Natalie Rice, Ashley Lessing, and Miklain Hardy all contributed goals to put the Knights up 6-0 in the first half.

Beginning the second half, Majkaleah Knowles dished a pass to Natalie Rice who found an opening to continue extending their lead. Hardy, Thatcher, and Lessing all continued to contribute to the Knights tally, ending the game 11-1.

Madilyn Krauss, the Knights goaltender, finished with her highest save percentage of the season, saving five of the Panthers' (2-4) attempts on goal. Krauss saved five of the six shots that were thrown against her.

The Knights will take on Capital Athletic Conference opponent Mary Washington on Saturday, March 10 at 12:00 p.m. at Knight Stadium.
