Women's Lacrosse Falls to Lions

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team fell to Emmanuel (Ga.) by a score of 17-14 in a game dominated by offense.

After the Lions (2-2) scored the first goal of the game, the Knights' offense took off, scoring six unanswered goals. Sophomore Lauren Thatcher scored the first of her three goals to start the scoring for the Knights (0-2), after which, Hannah King, Natalie Rice, Megan Barfuss, and Miklain Hardy also scored to give the Knights a  6-1 lead.

At the end of the first half, the Knights led the Lions 11-6.

The Lions bounced back in the second half of play, holding the Knights to just three goals while scoring 11 themselves.

Majkaleah Knowles and Lauren Thatcher led the offense for the team, scoring three goals each. Megan Barfuss also contributed two goals and three assists to the Knights' tally.

Sophomore Madilyn Krauss took the loss in goal, despite saving a career-high 12 shots on the game.

The Knights will hit the road to play Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C. on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
