FROSTBURG, Md. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team fell 18-8 to Capital Athletic Conference opponent Frostburg State University Wednesday evening.
The Bobcats (5-8, 3-2 CAC) started out the game with nine straight goals. Claire Houghtaling ended the run with a goal of her own with five minutes left in the first half. Frostburg scored once more before Zoe Bradshaw scored two in the final minutes to cut down the Bobcat's lead at halftime.
The Knights (3-11, 0-6 CAC) scored five goals in the second half, but Frostburg secured their win with eight goals of their own.
Bradshaw led the Knights with four goals and Hougtaling recorded her fifth hat trick of the season. Kelsey Johnson scored her first goal of the season in the second half.
Southern Virginia was outshot 35-17. Keilani Torres-Lopez played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded nine saves.
The Knights play in their final away game of the season on Saturday, April 8 at No. 7 York College of Pennsylvania. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.
