BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's lacrosse team fell to Wesley College 16-7 on Saturday in the final game of the 2016 season.

The Knights (7-10, 0-8 CAC) struggled to find the net during the first half, with their only goal of the period coming from a free position shot by Rainey Whitworth. The Wolverines (3-12, 1-7 CAC) took a 9-1 lead at the break.

In the second half the Knights came out on a 4-1 run in the first ten minutes, cutting the lead to five, but were not able to get over the hump as Wesley continued their offensive attack and pulled off a 16-7 win.

Senior midfielder Zoe Bradshaw led the team with four goals and seven ground balls. Whitworth scored two while Claire Houghtaling tallied a goal as well.

Bradshaw, along with seniors Elizabeth Bonney and Amanda McCafferty were honored before the gmae.

The Knights finished their best season in program history with seven wins.
