TIGERVILLE, S.C.—The Southern Virginia women's lacrosse team was defeated 12-2 on the road by North Greenville University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Crusaders (5-3, 1-2 CC) took an early lead over the Knights (3-3, 0-1 CAC) scoring two goals in the first seven minutes of the game. North Greenville added five more points to take a 7-0 lead at the half.
In the second half the Crusaders scored four more before the Knights found momentum with two back-to-back goals.
Claire Houghtaling found the back of the net off an assist from Rainey Whitworth in the Knights' first goal. Whitworth then scored with 15:59 left in the game, she finished with three groundballs and led the team with two caused turnovers.
In the goal, Rachel Miller recorded nine saves.
Southern Virginia travels to Montreat, North Carolina to take on Montreat College at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
