About the Knights

Southern Virginia is in its first season as a provisional NCAA program, and in its first season of Capital Athletic Conference play. The Knights enter the contest against Christopher Newport on the heels of an 18-3 defeat at the hands of CAC foe No. 13 York (Pa.).

The Knights are led on offense by sophomore Zoe Bradshaw with 15 goals, while sophomore Rainey Whitworth has added 12 goals on the season. Freshman goalkeeper Kathryn Lyman has compiled 69 saves in eleven starts for the Knights, including a career-high 13 saves against a potent York attack.

About the Captains

Christopher Newport (8-6) is led by head coach Carolyn Ravela, and is also in its first year of CAC competition. The Captains have notched strong victories over CAC members Marymount, Wesley, and Frostburg State this season. CNU finished 18-3 overall last season, and earned the program's first NCAA Tournament win.

Senior Ashton Marshall leads the Captains in points with 45 goals and 15 assists on the season. Freshman Erin Callahan has broken into the scene with 27 goals and 19 assists, while sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Siough has anchored the defense with 143 saves on the season.
