About the Knights
The Knights are in their first year of varsity competition and their first season as a member of the Capital Athletic Conference. Southern Virginia enters the contest on the heels of a 19-3 defeat at the hands of conference foe Frostburg State. Claire Houghtaling, Rainey Whitworth, and Kristen Kessler scored a goal apiece for the Knights.
Sophomore Rainey Whitworth leads the Knights with 12 goals on the season, while Zoe Bradshaw has added ten goals and Caroline Schroeder has eight. Goalkeeper Kathryn Lyman has compiled 52 saves during nine games for the Knights this season.
About the Saints
Marymount (5-4) is led by veteran head coach Jamie Reynolds and entered the season ranked sixth of nine teams in the CAC. The Saints have notched solids wins over Lynchburg and Mount Union this season. Marymount finished 7-8 overall last year and went 2-4 in conference play.
Megan McGuirk leads the Saints with 22 goals and 16 assists, while Taylor Johnson has contributed 21 goals on the season. Kiki Niebuhr and Tylar Abrams have registered 85 saves while sharing time in the cage.
