About the Knights

The Knights are in their first year as a provisional NCAA program and in their first season as a member of the Capital Athletic Conference. Southern Virginia enters its first contest against a nationally ranked opponent coming off a 17-6 defeat at the hands of Sweet Briar College.

Sophomore Rainey Whitworth leads the Knights with nine goals on the season, while Caroline Schroeder has added eight goals and Zoe Bradshaw has five goals. Goalkeeper Kathryn Lyman has compiled 30 saves during her five starts for the Knights this season. Senior Abigail Baxter has helped anchor the Knights on defense with 11 ground balls.

About the Sea Gulls

Salisbury (6-0) is lead by veteran head coach Jim Nestor and the Sea Gulls are the defending NCAA DIII national champions. Nestor has led Salisbury to two national championships during his tenure and is a three-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year recipient.

Junior Shelby Nemecek leads the Sea Gulls with 16 goals while senior Shannon Carta leads the team in points with 12 goals and seven assists. Senior goalkeeper Ashton Wheatley has registered 46 saves throughout six games.
