Women's Golf Completes Day One in Spring Opener

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — After day one of the Cavalier Spring Invitational, the Southern Virginia University women's golf teams sits five strokes behind Capital Athletic Conference foe Mary Washington and in seventh place in the tournament.

The Knights are playing at the Silver Creek Plantation Golf Course for the first time in the program's short history.

"This course is very challenging," commented head coach Blair Garner. "There are a lot of hills and some very tricky greens. Even though we have to play better around the greens, I'm proud of how we have hit the ball on a course we have never played."

Bailey Rusick sits in 19th overall with a score of 99 (+27), five strokes in front of teammate Brinnley Pulsipher (+32), who leads Bailey Pfunder (+35) by three strokes.

Caroline Pitcher is the Knights' final scorer at 128 (+56).

Tennesse Wesleyan sits in first with a team score of 354, followed by Montreat College (369), Indiana University East (401) and Union College (Ky.) (405).
