PHEONIX, Md. — The Southern Virginia University women's golf team placed fourth in the two-day Goucher Fall Invitational at Hillendale Country Club this week with a team score of 890.
"I am proud of the women's team and how they played on this very tough course," head coach Blair Garner commented. "I'm looking forward to seeing how they improve when we come back in the spring."
The Knights finished 12 strokes out of third place after another difficult day on the par-73 course. Captain Bailey Rusick, who has been battling a knee injury, broke into the top-10 of the tournament and led the team with a second-round score of 96 and a combined score of 198 (+52).
Brinley Pulsipher, who led the team in the first round, fell back to 14th place with a total score of 215. Two strokes behind her was a consistent Bailey Pfunder who shot 109 (+36) on day one, and 108 (+35) on day two.
Rounding out the Southern Virginia scorers was Caroline Pitcher with a combined score of 260.
York College of Pennsylvania won the tournament, followed by Mary Washington and host Goucher College. The Knights beat out Juniata College by over 100 strokes.
