BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's golf team hosted the Knight Invitational on Saturday afternoon at The Vista Links Golf Course. The Knights swept the first three finishes and earned the team title.

"It's always nice to win at your home course," assistant golf coach Lea Garner said. "With that said, it's not a very easy course, so I am proud of how the team played. This should give us some confidence heading into our next tournament."

Bailey Rusick earned the individual champion award after shooting an 87 on the 5815-yard course. She finished four strokes ahead of teammate Bailey Pfunder who finished second overall with a score of 91. Brinley Pulsipher placed third in the invitational with a 98, two strokes in front of the fourth-place golfer.

Caroline Pitcher was the fourth scorer for Southern Virginia, shooting a season-low 111. Sadee Moss shot her second-best round of the year with a score of 125.

The Knights topped Emory & Henry and Sweet Briar Colleges.

All of the teams will meet again next week at Emory & Henry.
