Women's Golf Competes at Stevenson University Fall Invitational

UPPERCO, Md. — The Southern Virginia University women's golf team competed at the Stevenson University Fall Invitational on Thursday, led by freshman Bailey Pfunder.

Pfunder (Lehi, Utah) shot a 95 to lead the way for the Knights at the 5805-yard, par-71 Piney Branch Golf Club

"Bailey hit the ball well and played tough in the course's rainy conditions," head golf coach Blair Garner said. "I'm really proud of her progress and that of the other players, especially not having seen the course before."

Rainy conditions canceled the Knights' practice round on Wednesday afternoon.

Brinley Pulsipher (Cedar Hills, Utah) and Caroline Pitcher (Mesa, Ariz.) also scored for Southern Virginia, with Pulsipher recording a 105 and Pitcher shooting a personal best 116.

Team captain Bailey Rusick (American Fork, Utah) was forced to withdraw because of injury, so the Knights were unable to get a team score.

Capital Athletic Conference opponents York College of Pennsylvania and the University of Mary Washington competed in the invitational along with McDaniel College and host Stevenson, who won the team title.

The Knights are back in action on Saturday as they host the Knight Invitational at The Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Virginia. Teeoff will be at 1 p.m.
