BUENA VISTA, Va.— In its final home game of the year, the Southern Virginia University women's basketball team suffered a 71-63 Capital Athletic Conference loss to Frostburg State University Wednesday afternoon in the Knight Sports Arena.
The Knights (12-12, 5-12 CAC) ran toe to toe with Frostburg (11-13, 7-10 CAC) in the first half as they trailed by only two points heading into halftime. Unfortunately for the Knights, however, the Bobcats managed to extend their lead in the third quarter of play and fight the Knights off.
Despite the loss, freshman Katie Garrish posted a huge game, putting up a double-double with 23 points on 10-21 shooting and 15 rebounds. Shelby Butler and Alexus Barnes also chipped in solid games with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
While the Knights managed to post more assists and steals than the Bobcats, Frostburg shot two percent better from the field and knocked down five more threes.
Southern Virginia will play its final game of the season on the 17th of February at Salisbury. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
