Women's Basketball Tops Trinity

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team beat Trinity Washington University at home in the Knight Sports Arena on Thursday evening.

Numerous season highs were set for the Knights (11-7) as the squad had 11 players score, including five players in double-figures. Southern Virginia shot 52.6% from the field and held the Tigers (3-10) to a rough shooting night.

Freshman forward Malea Dye led all players with 14 points, while forwards Lorna Lei-Sua'ava and Shelby Butler each added 12. Sua'ava also pulled down 11 boards in her first career double-double. Jamilla Gambee swiped six steals for a new season high.  

The Knights will return to CAC action on Saturday as they take on Penn State-Harrisburg at home. Tipoff will be at 1:00 p.m. in Knight Sports Arena.
