Meet the 2017-18 Women's Basketball Team

The members of the Southern Virginia University women's basketball team for the 2017-18 season.

#10 Nicole Muse
Junior Guard
Nacogdoches, Texas / Wooden HS

After missing last season due to injury, Nicole is back on the floor for the Knights in her third year with the team. Her freshman year she played in 16 games, scoring 19 points on 50% shooting from the field. Nicole likes listening to music and taking long naps. 

#11 Cory Stout
Sophomore Guard
Murray, Utah / Murray HS

Cory enters her second season as a guard for the team. Last season, she started 15 games for the Knights, scoring 5.2 points per game and leading the team with 2.6 assists per game. She also had a three-point percentage of 41.3%, knocking down 19 triples on the year. Cory made the All-Region and All-State teams at Murray High School. She enjoys baking desserts and the Utah Jazz, and she also has a black belt. 

#12 Bryndie Ballam
Junior Guard
Chantilly, Va. / Utah State University Eastern

A junior transfer from Utah State University Eastern, Bryndie brings experience and depth at the guard position for the Knights. Last season, she averaged 6.1 points per game for USU-Eastern while shooting 76% from the free throw line.

#13 Adrianna Jensen
Senior Guard
Draper, Utah / George Wythe University 

Adrianna joins the team this year as a senior after previously attending George Wythe University in Salt Lake City, Utah. At Alta High School in Sandy, Utah, Adrianna was named second team All-Region as well as serving as a team captain. She served an LDS mission in Bulgaria from 2014 to 2016 and is majoring in business and politics.

#15 Abby Olsen
Freshman Guard
Edmond, Okla. / Edmond Sante Fe HS

Abby comes in as a freshman this year after averaging 14 points and six assists per game at Edmond Santa Fe High School in Oklahoma. She was also named to the first team All-Conference and All-State teams. Abby has seven siblings and enjoys shopping and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

#20 Jamilla Gambee
Senior Forward
Junction City, Ore. / Junction City HS

Jamilla enters her senior season for the Knights. The team will look to her energy and defensive ability, as she is routinely one of the conference leaders in steals. Last year, Jamilla averaged 2.4 steals per game, as well as 6.2 points per game. She also scored a career high in points last season with 23 at Mary Baldwin. Jamilla is majoring in psychology and enjoys the Utah Jazz, Star Wars, and learning facts about animals.

#22 Kailee Rucker
Freshman Guard
Chula Vista, Calif. / Nile C. Kinnick HS

Kailee is a freshman guard from Chula Vista, California, who has moved nine times in her life, last attending Nile C. Kinnick High School in Yokosuka, Japan. She plans to major in art and minor in education. Kailee's favorite athlete is Steph Curry, and her favorite movie is Forrest Gump. 

#23 Alexus Barnes
Junior Guard
Oceanside, Calif. / Guajome Park Academy

Alexus returns for her second season with the Knights after averaging 6.4 points per game last year to go along with 3.6 rebounds per game. During her time at Guajome Park Academy in California, she was named MVP All-Citrus League, received the Union-Tribune Scholar-Athlete Award, and was nominated for Female Athlete of the Year at the school. Alexus is working towards a major in business and enjoys boogie boarding and sushi. 

#24 Angel Tuisavura
Sophomore Guard
Orem, Utah / Timpanogos HS

Angel enters her second season as a guard for the Knights. Last year, she played in 24 games, totaling 43 points, 30 rebounds, and dishing out 26 assists. Angel is majoring in family and child development, and likes the Los Angeles Lakers, relaxing on the beach, and eating Ramen.

#35 Lorna-lei Sua'ava
Freshman Forward
Palmer, Alaska / Palmer HS 

Lorna comes across the country to play at Southern Virginia this year after averaging 13.5 points and 11 rebounds per game at Palmer High School in Alaska. She was named All-State Honorable Mention and made the All-Tournament Team. She has one sibling and plans to study nursing.

Annandale, Va. / Annandale HS 

#41 Shelby Butler
Senior Forward/Center
West Richland, Wash. / Hanford HS

Shelby enters her senior year after being fourth in the conference in scoring at 13.9 points per game and leading the team in rebounds at 7.5 per game. She also scored a career-high of 29 last year against Frostburg State. Shelby recently married Southern Virginia football player Spencer Butler, and she is majoring in liberal arts. She enjoys spending time outdoors and the Green Bay Packers. 

Malea Dye
Freshman Forward
West Richland, Wash. / Hanford HS 

A varsity team captain for two years, Malea enters the program after being named All-Conference and All-Area Honorable Mention at Hanford High School in Washington. She has four siblings and likes the Golden State Warriors and Chinese food.
