BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team lost 99-61 to No. 12 Christopher Newport University at home Wednesday night.

The Knights (3-21, 0-17 CAC) started the game out strong and caused the Captains (22-2, 15-2 CAC) to miss shots and turn the ball over in their first few possessions. Christopher Newport took control towards the end of the first quarter and kept the lead for the remainder of the game, holding Southern Virginia to a ten-point second quarter.

Despite the offense picking up for the Knights, CNU also scored more in the second half.

Christopher Newport shot 53% from the field compared to Southern Virginia's 37.9%.
