FROSTBURG, Md.—Junior Shelby Winsor had a career night on Wednesday, scoring 29 points in the Knights' 84-80 loss at Capital Athletic Conference opponent Frostburg State University.
Along with Winsor, Meredith Ouellette dropped a season-high 25 points, just one point shy of tying her career-high.
Despite Southern Virginia University's (3-19, 0-15 CAC) early first quarter lead, the Bobcats (10-12, 8-7 CAC) went on an 11-2 run to close out the period and lead by 10. The Knights outscored their opponent in both quarters of the second half, but were unable to retake the lead.
In the final minute of the game Ouellette brought the Knights within one point on a pair of free throws, but the Bobcats made their free-throws when Southern Virginia was forced to foul and secure their win.
Winsor and Ouellette combined for 51 points and 16 rebounds. Ouellette shot 57.1% from beyond the arc and Winsor shot 64.7% from the field.
Southern Virginia shot better than Frostburg State from the field, but the Bobcats edged the Knights in free-throws and only had 10 turnovers.
The Knights play at Salisbury University on Saturday, February 11 at 1 p.m.
