BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team fell 75-57 at home to Capital Athletic Conference opponent Marymount University Wednesday night.
Marymount (16-4, 10-3 CAC) started the game with a 5-0 run and had a seven-point lead after the first quarter. The Knights (3-17, 0-13 CAC) started the second quarter with five points from Alexus Barnes but the Saints expanded their lead and went into halftime ahead 37-25.
Both teams recorded 23-point third quarters, but Marymount ran away in the fourth quarter to secure their win.
The Knights were held to a low 28.8% from the field compared to the Saints season-high, 58.3% shooting. The Knights defense forced 23 Marymount turnovers.
Southern Virginia will look for their first Capital Athletic Conference win on Saturday, February 4 as it hosts Penn State-Harrisburg at 1 p.m. in the Knight Sports Arena.
