BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team fell 84-61 at home to York College of Pennsylvania in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
The Spartans (14-5, 8-4 CAC) quickly jumped ahead in the first quarter and maintained the lead for the remainder of the game. The Knights (3-16, 0-12 CAC) had a 21-point second quarter, but found themselves down by 11 at halftime. Despite holding York to 19 points in each quarter of the second half, the Knights fell by an 84-61 margin.
Kelsey Johnson (Cumming, Ga.), in her sixth start of the year, grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
York shot 46.3% from the field compared to Southern Virginia's 33.3%. The Knights had an impressive 16 steals (second highest this season), including four from Angel Tuisavura (Orem, Utah).
The Knights host Marymount University on Wednesday, February 1. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. in the Knight Sports Arena.
