Women's Basketball Falls to Lions

BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team lost 71-58 to Capital Athletic Conference opponent Penn State-Harrisburg Thursday night.

The Knights (3-9, 0-5 CAC) had an early 17-16 lead after the first quarter, but the Lions (3-9, 1-4 CAC) held the Knights to just 10 points in the second, and took the lead going into halftime. Penn State-Harrisburg kept their lead for the remainder of the game.

Southern Virginia was led by sophomore Merideth Ouellette who scored 13 points. Freshmen Cory Stout added 12 points and Alexus Barnes had 11 points and had a career high of 11 rebounds.

The Lions had better shooting percentages in all three categories, including 70% from the free-throw line compared to the Knights 44.4%.

Southern Virginia continues their road trip at York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 7 at 1 p.m.
