BUENA VISTA, Va.—Junior Center Shelby Winsor had her fourth double-double of the year Monday night, in a non-conference loss to William Peace University. The Pacers outlasted the Knights, 104-78.
Southern Virginia (3-8) scored the first seven points of the game, but ended the quarter with a two-point deficit. During the second quarter the Knights repeated their 21-point period, but the Pacers (6-2) extended their lead, 51-42.
The Knights had a hard time scoring in the third quarter, connecting on just three of ten from the line and shooting 37.5%. In the fourth, William Peace's Susannah Sykes went 4-6 from three with a 16-point performance to extend the Pacer's lead and secure the 104-78 win.
Cory Stout, Merideth Ouellette and Alexus Barnes joined Winsor with double-digit scoring, Stout and Ouellette each had 13 points and a trio of treys. Stout added six assists and a steal while Ouellette recorded five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Pacers outshot the Knights 50.6% to 38.9% for the game.
Capital Athletic Conference action resumes for the Knights on Thursday as they head to Penn St.-Harrisburg for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
