Women’s Basketball Topped by Marymount University

ARLINGTON, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team suffered a 73-48 road loss at Marymount University Wednesday night.

Despite a 12-11 lead after the first quarter, the Knights (2-6, 0-3 CAC) were plagued with bad shooting during a five-point second period, and trailed by 15 at the half.

Marymount (6-1, 3-0 CAC) added ten more points to their lead during the second half, and finished the game with 39% shooting and 23 made free throws. Although the Knights shot 39.6% from the field, they shot 1-5 from the line.

Freshman forward Courtney McKrola (Longmont, Colo.) had a career-high ten points on the night, and senior forward Morgan Hartvigsen (Kaysville, Utah) chipped in nine, all from three-point land.

Merideth Ouellette (Suffield, Conn.) added seven points in her fifth consecutive start of the season. Shelby Winsor (West Richland, Wash.), who leads the team in scoring, was held to just six points on the night. Jamilla Gambee (Junction City, Ore.) also recorded six.   

Southern Virginia returns to action on Saturday Dec. 10 as it hosts Salisbury in the Knight Sports Arena. Tipoff is 1 p.m.
