Women's Basketball Topped by No. 13 CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team fell 46-85 to No. 13 Christopher Newport University, in their first Capital Athletic Conference game of the season.

Despite holding the Captains (5-0, 1-0 CAC) to a season low 15.8% on three-point shooting and the most turnovers of the season, the Knights (2-4, 0-1 CAC) were unable to keep up with the nationally ranked team.

Shelby Winsor led the Knights with 15 points and eight rebounds. Merideth Ouellete chipped in six points.

Southern Virginia shot 43.5% from the field but struggled from the free throw line, only making 3-12. 

The Knights continue CAC play on Saturday, December 3 against Wesley College. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. in the Knight Sports Arena.
