Last Meeting

The two teams last met exactly one month ago on Jan. 8 with Penn State Harrisburg picking up a close 62-60 victory at The Barn in Buena Vista, Va. It was a back-and-forth contest that featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes throughout.  Southern Virginia went into the break with a 30-27 lead and extended its lead to six in the second half. Penn State Harrisburg battled back and a three pointer with just 1:28 gave the Lions the lead for good as the Knights' Tatiana Monsen missed a shot at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime. Monsen led all scorers in the game with 17 points on 6-17 shooting.

About the Knights

Southern Virginia enters this contest having dropped four in a row, with its most recent loss coming at Marymount University on Wednesday, a 54-45 defeat. The Knights outscored the Saints in the second half, 24-17, but it was not enough to overcome the 37-21 halftime deficit.

As a team this season, Southern Virginia is averaging 53.2 ppg while shooting 35.9 percent from the floor. The Knights are also averaging 39.3 rebounds per game and are holding opponents to 68.3 ppg.

At 9.6 ppg, freshman guard Tatiana Monsen leads Southern Virginia in scoring while contributing team bests of 2.6 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game. Crystal Cleveland and Shannon Romito are continuing to clean up the boards, averaging 9.5 and 7.0 rebounds, respectively.

The Knights will look for a strong offensive output to avenge their previous loss to the Lions and pick up their first road victory of the season.

About the Lions

Penn State Harrisburg is currently on an eight-game skid with its last victory coming against Southern Virginia in early January. The Lions' most recent loss came just one day ago at Frostburg State, a 75-63 defeat.
