The two teams last met more than two months ago on November 25 of last year, with Marymount picking up an 84-70 victory over Southern Virginia. The contest featured a closely contested battle until the Saints used a late 19-8 run to close the half to take a 41-32 lead going into the break. The Knights would get no closer than six in the second half as Marymount pulled away shooting 55 percent and nailing seven treys in the second half.

Southern Virginia enters the contest coming off an 80-41 loss to nationally ranked Christopher Newport University just one day ago. This was a makeup game from a previous postponement.
As a team this season, Southern Virginia is averaging 53.6 ppg while shooting 35.8 percent from the floor. The Knights are also averaging 39.6 rebounds per game and holding opponents to 69.1 ppg.
At 9.9 ppg, freshman guard Tatiana Monsen leads Southern Virginia in scoring while contributing team bests of 2.7 assists per game and 2.2 steals per game. Crystal Cleveland and Shannon Romito are continuing to clean up the boards averaging 9.4 and 7.1 rebounds, respectively.
