BUENA VISTA, Va.—The United States Collegiate Athletic Association today announced freshman center Crystal Cleveland (Delran, N.J.) as USCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week due to her performance last week.

"Although Crystal [Cleveland] is a freshman, she plays much more experienced," said fourteen-year Head Coach Michael Harmon. "She has not only had a great week for us throughout the past four games, but Crystal is one of the big reasons for our success this year."

Cleveland averaged 14 points, 11.8 rebounds and two blocks-per-game for Southern Virginia during last week's four-game stretch, which included a Jan. 29 60-48 home win against Capital Athletic Conference-foe Frostburg State. She also registered double-doubles in three of those four contests.

Cleveland's top performance of the week came when she netted a season-high 20 points going 7-for-12 from the field with 11 boards in the Knights' heartbreaking 64-63 overtime loss at Meredith College on Jan. 31.

She followed Thursday night up with a 15-point, 16-rebound and four-block performance on Saturday in Southern Virginia's 62-20 rout over Bennett College in front of a ruckus Knight Sports Arena home crowd.

Cleveland has started all 16 games she has played in and has recorded a double-double in nine of those contests.
