Wofford Too Much For Knights

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After a strong weekend, the Southern Virginia University women's basketball team could not keep a winning streak alive, as they fell to NCAA D.I opponent Wofford, 83-35. SVU fell in to an early hole against the Terriers, and never found a consistency in the offense to stay close to the hosts. A halftime lead for Wofford of 40-19 proved to be more than enough points.

SVU was led by Cara Joyner and Jasmin Johnson who were able to contribute 7-points apiece in the losing cause. SVU was able to have solid shooting, as the team hit on 37% of its shots. Despite the shooting percentage, the Knights could not keep the Terriers from a flowing offensive game. The hosts hit on 52% of their shots, but also were able to keep the visitors at arms length on the defensive end, as they pulled down 33-rebounds to the Knights' 25. Wofford also made the Knights pay, as they forced the visitors into 35-turnovers.

Amanda Morgan posted a strong outing, as she added six points and was the team's leading rebounder with six boards. Morgan led a strong effort from the bench, as the second team accounted for twenty seven of the team's 35-points. The second team matched up well with the hosts, as the Terriers second team recorded only two more points than the visitor's second unit.

SVU will have very little time to dwell on the loss, as they will hit the road again for a trip to play in Raleigh, N.C. against D.III foe Meredith. Game time for the competition is set for 7:00 pm.
