Knights Go 0-2 in Friday's Doubleheader

BRIDGEWATER, Va.—The Southern Virginia University softball team lost both games of their Friday doubleheader to Bridgewater College, 7-0 and 4-1.

With the losses, the Knights drop to 3-13 on the season.

In the first game, the Eagles (11-4) took an early lead scoring four runs in the second inning.

They tacked on another two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to close out the first game 7-0.

In the opening game, the Knights recorded four total hits and had six strikeouts.

In game two, Bridgewater again jumped out to a quick lead scoring three runs in the opening inning.

The Knights responded in the top of the third on a Krystal Kemp single that brought home Megan Harmon, cutting the Eagles lead to two, 3-1.

The only other score of the game came in the bottom of the sixth as Bridgewater tacked on another run to take game two, 4-1.

Megan Harmon led the way for Southern Virginia in game two with two hits as well as scoring the Knights lone run. Krystal Kemp, Madison Rigby, and Bethanie Hudson all had a hit for the Knights as well and Kemp added an RBI.

Southern Virginia returns to action on Saturday the 16th of March as they will host Mary Baldwin University in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m.
