Wildcats Take Two From Knights

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University softball team dropped a pair of games to Randolph College on Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-0 in the first game and 7-0 in the second.

The Knights (1-5) surrendered the first run of the game to the Wildcats (4-1) in the bottom of the second inning.

The Wildcats then extended their lead in the bottom of the third on a fielder's choice bringing in a run to lead 2-0.

The last run of the game came in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to push the Wildcats lead to three.

Catcher Heather Terranova led the Knights with a pair of hits while teammates MyKayla Johnson and Madison Rigby also recorded a hit.

Krystal Kemp went six innings for the Knights on the mound allowing five hits and three runs in the loss.

In the second game, the Wildcats scored three runs in the third inning in result of an error and later sacrifice fly.

Randolph College scored the rest of their runs in the bottom of the fifth scoring four runs to take down the Knights 7-0. 

The Knights had only two baserunners for the game on hits from Bethanie Hudson and Madison Rigby.

Megan Harmon started for Southern Virginia going six innings allowing nine hits and seven runs with three strikeouts.

The Knights now prepare for the Mountain Mash Tournament where they will play a total of four games for the weekend starting Friday, Mar. 1 at 12:00 p.m. against Susquehanna.
