Southern Virginia returns home to face Capital Athletic Conference opponent Frostburg State on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights are coming off a weekend losing streak to Mary Washington and Christopher Newport.
Sophomore Cheyenne Hegsted continues to lead the Knights with a .364 batting average and a .404 on-base percentage with 13 stolen bases. McKenzie Packard leads the team with nine RBI, and trails behind Hegsted with a .302 batting average, .340 on-base percentage and 10 stolen bases.
Southern Virginia needs to string hits together to light the scoreboard and earn its first CAC win.
About the Bobcats
The Bobcats recently fell in a doubleheader to Christopher Newport on Sunday afternoon to earn their first CAC losses of the season. As a team, the Bobcats have a .281 batting average and a .353 on-base percentage.
Freshman Hannah Travik leads the Bobcats with a .365 batting average, 19 hits, is tied for first in runs scored with 10 and has 10 RBI. Sophomore Renay Aubel leads the team with 13 RBI and a .510 slugging percentage, has a .314 batting average, 16 hits and two homeruns. After 17 games, senior Caitlin Lovend leads the team with three homeruns, has 15 hits and six RBI.
The Bobcats' pitching staff is led by junior Tavik. After 62 innings in the circle, Tavik has a 2.15 earned run average, a team-high 50 strikeouts, has allowed three homeruns and currently holds a 6-4 record. The Eagles have a combined 3.17 earned run average, 72 strikeouts and 57 walks.
