The Southern Virginia University softball team hosted Maine-Presque Isle on April 2, 2013 and won both games 11-1 and 13-2 in five innings.
About the Knights
Southern Virginia continues to battle for its first win of the 2014 season. The Knights recently fell to No. 2 Salisbury University, 11-0 and 14-0 Monday afternoon.
Freshman McKenzie Packard continues to lead the Knights with a .333 batting average, .433 on base percentage and five RBI's while sophomore Cheyenne Hegsted follows behind with a .310 batting average, .379 on base percentage and two RBI's. The duo is tied for the most stolen bases on the team with six, four runs and one homerun apiece
The Knights will be aggressive at the plate and execute plays defensively as they look to take their first win.
About the Owls
The young Owls softball squad is on a seven game slump and recently lost a twill bill to Fisher College 10-7 and 21-15 last Friday.
Senior pitcher, Krista Coffin leads the Owls with a .421 batting average on eight hits and one double. Sophomore Amanda Allen trails with a .400 batting average and 10 hits. Junior speedster Taylor Cochran leads the team with six stolen bases, while sophomore Shannon Brown leads the team with eight RBI.
After 23.2 innings in the circle, Coffin has a 7.39 earned run average and averages 4.4 strikeouts per game and nearly the same for walks. Freshman pitcher Katlyn Dow has earned a 10.18 earned run average after 11 innings in the circle and 3.18 strikeouts per game.
