Southern Virginia's Bats Fall Silent in Loss to Davis and Elkins

BUENA VISTA, Va. — Only five days after McKenzy MacKay's no-hitter, the Southern Virginia University softball team was no-hit on Wednesday afternoon by Alanna Jones of Davis and Elkins College in a 3-0 home loss.

Southern Virginia (4-9) intended to play a doubleheader with Davis and Elkins (6-9), but the second game was called after two innings due to unsafe weather conditions.

Despite picking up the loss, Mackay (2-6) had another solid outing for the Knights allowing only one earned run in seven innings of work. The USCAA Co-Pitcher of the Week, however, was outdueled by Jones who retired 21 of the 25 Southern Virginia batters that she faced, including 15 by strikeout.

Softball now has eight days off before traveling to Takoma Park, Md. on April, 1 for a doubleheader with Washington Adventist University at 1 p.m.

Southern Virginia won both of its previous games against Washington Adventist this season.
