Jeremiah John is an assistant professor of politics at Southern Virginia University and has served as the assistant men's and women's cross country coach since 2011.
In his first four seasons as assistant cross country coach, John helped the women's team to two straight national championships in 2011 and 2012 and the men's team to sixth-place (2011) and tenth-place (2012) finishes at nationals, respectively. In 2014, he helped coach freshman Michael Myers to an All-CAC second team finish and earn the league's Runner of the Week award three times during the year.
Before joining the Southern Virginia faculty in 2007, John graduated summa cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College in 2000. In January 2008, he earned his doctorate in political theory and comparative politics from the University of Notre Dame, writing his dissertation on law and morality in Hegel's political philosophy.
John is the coordinator of Southern Virginia's politics program and a running enthusiast.
He lives in Buena Vista, Va. with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children.
