Cross Country Competes in USC Upstate Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Southern Virginia University cross country teams competed in the USC Upstate Invitational from Milliken Research Center.

The Knights men recorded a sixth-place finish while the women finished 11th.

The men's team was led once again by junior Michael Myers with a 9th place overall finish in a time of 26:17.6. Sophomore Colter May came also finished in the top-20 registering an 18th place finish and time of 27:02.8. Kevin Shelly (27:54.7), Hunter Lund (29:00.6), and Brendan Scott (30:06.2) completed the top-five for Southern Virginia.

Sydney Bigelow was the top finisher for the women's team, where she placed 47th overall and running a 19:58.0. Following Bigelow was a trio of freshman Jill Westman, Jessica Simpson, and Elora Smith. Sophomore Kate Huber was fifth on the team, closing out the top-five.

The Knights will now have a recovery week as they will not race for two weeks when they head to compete in the Gettysburg College Invitational Saturday, Oct. 13 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
