Men's Cross Country Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Capital Athletic Conference released the 2017 preseason coaches' poll, positioning the Southern Virginia University men's cross country team with a fifth-place finish.

Christopher Newport comes into the season on top after winning their third-straight CAC championship.

The fifth-place projection is one place higher than the 2017 season. The CAC championships will be hosted for the first time by the Knights Oct. 27.

"There is a lot of excitement this season, we look to build on last year" said head coach Clint May. "We did not lose anyone to graduation last year, not being affected by graduation we are able to maintain our young core and make the necessary steps to get better this season."

The Knights return their top-three finishers, CAC Men's Rookie of the Year Colter May, junior Mike Myers, and senior Greyson Meyer.

The 2018 season begins on Friday, Aug. 31 at Mary Washington.
