NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Southern Virginia University's cross country teams will return to Christopher Newport to participate in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships after making strong appearances in both the men's and women's Capital Athletic Conference Championship.
At the CAC Championship Morgan Bingham and Sydney Bigelow took first and second with times of 22:52.5 and 23:08.6, respectively.
Morgan was the first runner in two years to finish the women's 6K championship in under 23 minutes and was also the first athlete from Southern Virginia to ever win a CAC championship. Sydney Bigelow was another surprise at the event, shaving off over 90 seconds from her personal record.
On the men's side, Colter May was the Knight's top runner finishing fourteenth in the 8K with a time of 25:59.3. Michael Myers followed with a time of 26:05.9, placing seventeenth in the race.
