Men's Cross Country Places Fifth, Colter May Named Rookie of the Year

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's cross country team earned a fifth-place finish at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, led by freshman Colter May, who was named the CAC Rookie of the Year after the race.  

May was the first freshman to cross the finish line, earning the 14th place overall with a time of 25:59.3. Next to finish for the Knights was Mike Myers, six seconds behind May in 17th place with a time of 26:05.9. Brothers Kevin Shelley and Brandon Shelley finished in the top-40 with times of 27:30.4 and 27:41.4. 

The men's team beat out Frostburg State, St. Mary's (Md.), Wesley, and Penn St – Harrisburg.

Christopher Newport took home the team championship.
