Bingham Sets Record, Cross Country Finishes Well in Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – At the Gettysburg College Cross Country Invitational, freshman Morgan Bingham set the Southern Virginia University record for the 6K race and both the men and women beat out several competitors from both the Capital Athletic Conference and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Bingham, from Sequim, Wash., set the school record since the Knights joined NCAA Division III with a time of 23:30.0. She also finished the race in fifteenth place out of 282 competitors.

The rest of the women's team showed well and was able to finish 17 out of 31 teams. The Knights beat out CAC competitors Wesley and Penn St. – Harrisburg as well as ODAC competitors Mary Baldwin, and Hollins.

The men also produced fantastic results, finishing seventh out of 25 teams.  The Knights were led by freshman Colter May who finished 22nd  overall with a time of 26:47.5. Michael Myers joined Colter in the race's top 50 with a time of 27:14.2.

The men's team also defeated CAC opponents, Penn St. – Harrisburg and Marymount while also defeating ODAC competitors Roanoke, Shenandoah. 

"Our team has made fantastic progress as we prepare for the Capital Athletic Conference Championship in two weeks," reflected head coach Clint May. "Our spirits are bright and we are looking forward to the challenge the Championship will bring."

Both teams are poised to show strongly in the CAC Championships. on Oct. 28 in Newport News, Va.
