Cross Country Announces 2017 Schedule

By Nick Porter

BUENA VISTA, Va. – Head cross country coach Clint May, who is entering his second season, today announced the 2017 schedule for both the men's and women's teams.

"I am excited about starting our season in a better place than last year," Coach May said. "Our big test will once again be at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships."

The Knights will have five races to prepare for the conference meet on October 28. The season will open on September first at CAC opponent Mary Washington.

The closest race to home will be the James Madison Invitational on September 9. "We wanted to get to a meet that was close enough to get some (fans) to come watch us race," May commented. The JMU meet will also give the teams a chance to race against schools outside the CAC.

For the most part, the men's distance will be an 8K with the women running a 6K.

Last season the men placed sixth at the conference championships. "We are looking for a top-five finish this year," May said.
