Cross Country CAC Championship Race Preview

By Nick Porter

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.—The Southern Virginia men's and women's cross country teams head to the campus Penn St.-Harrisburg this weekend for the Capital Athletic Conference Championship races Saturday morning.

The men will run an 8K race (map) and the women will run a 6K (map).

On the men's side, brothers Kevin Shelley and Brandon Shelley have finished first and second for the Knights in the last three races.

"My goal for the conference meet is to run under 28 minutes," Kevin commented in an interview with the CAC. Reaching his goal would have 26 seconds from his last 8K race time.

Kaylee Upham and Kaitlyn Garcia lead the women's team this season, each with team first place finishes during the season. The two plan to run the championship race in around 25 minutes.

Check out more comments from Kevin Shelley and Coach May in the CAC men's cross country pre-championship webcast. Kaylee Upham also interviews with the CAC in the women's webcast.
