Knights Finish Strong At Generals Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. Paced by top-25 finishes by BJ Awerkamp and Kevin Prince, the Southern Virginia Men's Cross Country team finished strongly in fourth place at the Generals Invitational. Awerkamp came in at the 17th position with a time of 30:36 over the 8k course at Washington & Lee. Prince finished next for the Knights in the 23rd spot. Prince came in 52-seconds after Awerkamp, at 31:28.

Freshman Jordan Ried was the third finisher for SVU, as he came in at the 31st spot. Fellow freshman, Christopher Werner was next covering the course in  34:34. Jesse Houchens, Tyson Babbel and Casey Mundell rounded out the Southern Virginia finishers, and helped pace the Knights to a total of 128-points.

The fourth place finish came behind Roanoke College (29-points), W&L (45-points), Catholic University (92-points). SVU was able to finish in front of Hampden Sydney College, Randolph College, Emory & Henry College, and Bluefield College.

SVU will return to action Sep. 25 when they travel to Salem, VA, to take place in the Maroon Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College.
