Gonzalez and Wellendorf Lead SVU at Hood
FREDERICK, Md. – Southern Virginia men’s and
women’s cross country finished second and third, respectively
at the Hood College Invitational on Saturday. Bridget Gonzalez led
the women with a sixth-place finish while Joel Wellendorf finished
third in the men’s race.
Gonzalez ran the women’s 5k in 20:49.00 and was followed by
Amberlie Williams in ninth (21:32.50) while Leila Schultz
(22:24.27), Holly Burningham (22:44.37) and Randi Zemp (22:51.96)
finished 18th, 19th and 20th.
Wellendorf ran the men’s 5k in 16:47.97 and was followed by
Jared Nielsen (16:56.95) and Spencer Hirt (17:00.19) in fourth and
fifth.
The Knights will contend for the men’s and women’s
USCAA national championships on Friday, Oct. 31, at Glen Maury Park
in Buena Vista, Virginia.
